Overview.
A large-scale mural celebrating creativity and the flow of ideas, designed for Studio Safari – a multi-use creative space within WOTSO Workspace in Adelaide CBD.
The Story.
I was approached by photographer Kate (Urban Safari) during the fit-out of Studio Safari. With support from a City of Adelaide Shopfront Revitalisation Grant through their Reignite Adelaide post Covid program, I was given full creative freedom to develop a mural that captures the essence of creativity.
The Artwork.
The mural explores the balance between the analytical and intuitive sides of the brain, showcased by the contrasting duo-tones coming together in a mirroring composition representing how ideas flow and evolve. A “creative safari” unfolds across the wall with layered tools, objects, and plant forms that symbolise making, thinking, and imagination. The artwork reflects the energy of the creative precinct which hosts co-working, photography, workshops, events, markets and endless possibilities. Plants and props such as the giant rubber duck are part of the eclectic atmosphere. Hidden throughout the mural are many small illustrated eyes – creating an extra layer of a playful “eye spy” experience for viewers.
